Ralynn Jayne Healy was born on September 30, 1974, after a very difficult pregnancy that she wasn't expected to survive, to Ronald and Sondra Healy, in Houston, Texas. She was the youngest of three siblings, Robert, Robyn, and Ronald Jr. She survived with a vigor her siblings couldn't keep up with, nor her parents and her life was full of many wonderful events and people.
Ralynn loved the AWANA (Approved Workman Are Not Ashamed) Bible Club, though didn't much care for Sunday School, preferring to sit in church with her parents instead. Some of the earliest of interests after AWANA were violin (too boring), swim team with her siblings, where after a few years she was invited to join the very competitive US SWIM, gymnastics where she got bored when she just couldn't get up on those bars, and diving went by the wayside after a year or so. Skating and Ballet replaced them.
Being home schooled, at her request, gave her the opportunity to experience everything she had an interest in including reading every medical books she could find. In 1984, Ralynn and her family moved to Colorado Springs, where her skating career became a reality.
As Ralynn got older, her sports drive became more intense as did all her interests. She lived at the Olympic Training Center where she was invited to train with the Junior Track Cycling Team, though she was still skating. She did much of her skating at the Air Force Academy and The Broadmoor World Arena, collecting many, many friends and even considered attending the Academy, where she was recruited by the swim team coach.
After she had moved back to Houston in 1996, Ralynn developed an interest in becoming a triathlete, competing in marathons, racing road and mountain bikes for the Woodlands Race Team and Burger King Team, in the Houston area. Every car she owned had a bike rack for the two speciality bikes she raced.
Ralynn was a tennis player, soccer, and volleyball team player. She was gutsy and determined to experience everything she could, and she also managed to travel as much as possible. Her friends were many, and she loved them all. Ralynn was so active in sports that her knees finally gave out and had just recuperated from her first knee surgery when God took her home.
Her mother's home is now filled with all her many trophies, metals, ribbons and diplomas. Ralynn lived a full life in a way that her family had a feeling she may have known her life on earth would be short.
One thing most of those who knew Ralynn didn't know, was that she and her fiancee' raced Corvettes at the Texas Motor Speedway in Dallas as one of the last events she participated in.
Ralynn is missed by her parents and siblings and her 96 yr old grandmother, Violet Healy, who ives in Connecticut, her nieces and nephews all in Texas, Michael and Melissa Healy, Grant, Dalen, Adrienne Healy, and Annelise, Addy, Wesley and William Foland, her Fiancee', Dr. Albert Lee, and hundreds of friends. | | This page was last modified on January 29, 2008 11:28 AM |
